Tulum that in mayan means “wall” or “Forth”. The original name of the city was maybe Zamá that in mayan means “Sunrise”.

Tulum is the biggest ancient building that is still standing at the Riviera Maya’s shore, and is the only group of constructions of archeological interest that is surrounded by walls located directly above the sea. The wall was built during 1200 – 1450 of our age. And all the structures are a post classic style.

COBA

The name itself makes you remember images from its glorious past. Its outstanding features were the constructions of big cities. Cobá which Mayan name means “wild waters”, is a large archeological site, that in fact is made of a series of different sites connected among them.

During the late post classic period 1200-1450 a.d. Cobá was the biggest settlement on the noth-eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. There are many groups of interesting buildings, the most notorious one is Nohoch Mul, with its large temple –pyramid that has the same name, that from its highest part (consisting of 42 meters is the tallest of the ancient constructions from Yucatan)you have a complete view of the jungle surrounding it.
